Eliminating Bad Breath
All of us at some time in our lives have worried about halitosis
or bad breath. For some of us the problem has caused embarrassment,
a loss of energy worrying about the problem and offended
friends and colleagues. Many times halitosis is more than just a breath
problem. About 75-80% of the time halitosis is caused by problems
in
the mouth.
Other times it is a symptom of a more serious underlying
situation. This requires quick, early intervention.
When the problem of bad breath is caused by oral factors, we can isolate
them and make the appropriate treatment recommendations. This type
of halitosis is caused by volatile sulfur compounds in the mouth. The
sulfur originates from bacteria breaking down food debris.
If the source of your halitosis is from other factors not related
to your oral health, we make the appropriate referral to a medical
specialist for you. If your bad breath is caused by old leaking fillings,
gum infections, broken teeth, or decay we will recommend the right
treatment for you.
