At the Center For Advanced Dentistry, we have great success
in helping people find relief from headaches and pain of
the jaw and neck. The main therapy that we utilize is orthotic
therapy (combined with neuromuscular massage). An orthotic
is a plastic device worn on the lower teeth. It is fabricated
after a thorough evaluation using the K-7
System to determine the most
relaxed position for the jaw. The orthotic allows the jaw
to maintain this most relaxed position. Keeping the jaw relaxed
also provides relief for the other muscles of the head, neck,
and shoulders. In the beginning, a person wears the orthotic
most of the day and at night. After about 3-6 months, most
patients are able to wear the orthotic only at night and
at times of stress. The care of the orthotic is easy. Care
of the Orthotic Positioning Device and
if properly maintained the orthotic can last for years.
The relief of pain is priceless and 99% of our patients who utilize this therapy are very excited about the difference it has made in their lives. Many no longer have to keep a bottle of pain relief medication at their side and the quality of their lives has improved dramatically. Several of our patients have agreed to share their experience. Please call our office for more information.
